Dear friend of Wellsbourne Healthcare
We hope that you and your family and friends are all staying safe during the current outbreak. This is just to let you know about what’s happening at Wellsbourne Healthcare now and in the coming weeks.
Infection Control To keep visitors and staff as safe as possible, we are open during our normal hours but we are asking people not to come to the surgery in person. Instead, people can contact us by phone on 01273 000544 for all enquiries, appointments and repeat prescriptions. If we do ask you to come in person, we have made arrangements to keep everyone safely distanced. The Broadway Surgery is doing the same. Lloyds Pharmacy is also open.
Most appointments are taking place by phone or video call. This is proving very popular with everyone. For people who still need a face to face appointment, home visits or a consultation at the surgery are still available, booked in advance by phone.
Vulnerable and Higher Risk Individuals
We are contacting everyone on our list who is vulnerable or higher risk by phone. This is because they will be isolated at home and may need help of some kind – anything from a friendly chat to practical help with shopping or prescriptions. Our social prescribing team is doing this work, helped by a team of volunteers from the NHS GoodSam scheme.
We have had many enquiries about the welfare of our own staff and would like to say a big thank you to everyone for your care and compassion. Some of our staff are in self-isolation, either because of their general health or condition, or because they have had symptoms. The whole team has rallied round and we are operating at normal levels right across the surgery.
To keep visitors with Covid-19 symptoms separate from those without, we are planning to set up what is called a ‘hot site’ at the Wellsbourne Centre. Attendance is by appointment only, booked in the normal way. Once it is up and running, patients can be seen without leaving their car and will need to come into the building only if they become very unwell during the visit.
Local Services and Volunteers
We have been sharing information about the fantastic ways the local community has responded with help and support. This includes the extended food bank services at St Cuthman’s, meal deliveries from Belta, the Acorn Volunteers and the East Brighton Covid-19 Support Fund.
Just before the outbreak, we managed to fill our giant planters with soil and plant fruit trees and shrubs. It was the first step towards our beautiful new garden. As soon as the lockdown is over, work will be back in full swing. In the meantime, you know the drill:
STAY HOME- PROTECT THE NHS – SAVE LIVE
Do contact us on 01273 000544 if you have any concerns at all about your own or your family members’ health. We are standing by you throughout this epidemic, and we will be here when it is all over too.
The staff of Wellsbourne Healthcare CIC.
