Former Egypt defender Adam El-Abd has been appointed as the Whitehawk’s assistant manager, the club announced.

El-Abd spent most of his career playing for English sides in League One and the EFL Championship, making over 400 league appearances.

The 35-year-old last played for League Two aide Stevenage after joining them from Wycombe last summer.

On Wednesday, Whitehawk released a statement announcing that El-Abd will join them as their new assistant manager.

“I am delighted to welcome Adam to the club,” said Whitehawk Chairman Andy Schofield.

“Everyone who saw him play for the Albion knows his complete commitment. He’s always looked after himself so will be playing every week, as well as working with the squad on the training ground.

“Having someone of his calibre around the club will give everyone a lift,” he added.
